Rowley:
‘I am satisfied that this committee can report within a week and that the tagging system could be available and it will allow us to maximise home quarantine and that will allow us to maximise the inflow of persons who are outside, citizens of Trinidad and Tobago, who are outside to come home and that will then result in an elimination of this exemption system,” Rowley told reporters.
“I see this as a cautious reopening of our border. We are in deep discussions with some of our CARICOM (Caribbean Community) colleagues. I spoke with the President of Guyana (Dr. Irfaan Ali) a few days ago at length and we believe that we could begin to have more movement between our citizens and the Guyanese population, the Grenada population, the Barbados population because the level at which they are at is either lower than or equal to us and we can begin sometime not in the too distant future to make more tentative steps with respect to the border opening.”

For the love of the Fox God, if you plan on attending, please sign up so that I may give a proper head count-estimate to the venue!
Now, for some sad news (for me)-
Due to work issues, and some real life stuff, I am SADLY unable to make it to the Forum or this party. So, I am going to rely on some of you to help ensure of its success. With that being said, I need some volunteers for the last minute work-
Volunteers needed!!
Day of the show- I need as MANY folks possible to hand out some flyers, and let everyone know about the party.
Handing out Flyers- If you can print out some flyers, and hand them out on line prior to the show, it would be a great help! You can use the above full color, or this black and white version . HTWingnut has also pit together this business-card sized template , which may be easier for some people. HT Wingnut also suggested printing a few full size color flyers, and (politely and neatly) posting them up around the venue as posters for the event. There are MULTIPLE entrances, so every little bit helps!
The Wonderful Journey Pops- Kmudametal will be escorting the Wonderful Journey Pops to The Forum!!! This will be their THIRD appearance at a concert or after party, with the first two being Legend S in 2017 and Innsbruck in 2018. Our idea was to set the Pops up at a table, take photos of them with the fans, and "LIVE TWEET" them at the party throughout the event. Kmuda can't do this alone, so if anyone can help him out, that would be very welcomed. Must have a working phone with camera and a Twitter account, and work closely with Kmuda regarding this. Safety of the Pops is also a concern, so known members or participants of the journey are encouraged. For anyone not familiar with The Wonderful Journey, or the Pops-
http://www.babymetalwj.com/
Check out BM Wonderful Journey (@BM_W_Journey): https://twitter.com/BM_W_Journey?s=09
Video slideshow- There is a possibility of accessing video for a slideshow throughout the event. All that would be necessary is someone to put something together on USB, (hopefully on a loop?) and run it. You would have to meet with staff on site at the party, give them the USB, and get it set up through them. If interested, let me know below, and I can DM you with info as soon as Jessica (events at the casino) gets back to me regarding this.
Liason with staff, assist with party-
If a couple people just check in with staff as we arrive, make sure all is set, and most importantly, HELP EVERYONE gather together, it is VERY useful. Believe me, I did this for The big party in Hollywood in 2017, and organizing this crew is like corraling cats, but it helps everyone find each other, and is a GREAT way to meet everyone!
MOST IMPORTANTLY- HELP SPREAD THE WORD!!-
Involved in other fan groups? Let them know!
Have a twitter and in touch with other fans? Tweet the party and flyer!
On Facebook? Share the event!!!
I've been posting about the event throughout the planning stages, but welcome everyone to join in- the MORE KITSUNES, THE MERRIER!!!
If you are attremding, please respond and say hi bellow.
If you can or want to volunteer, let me know in the comments-
And most importantly... HAVE FUN EVERYONE!!!
SEE YOU!!!

In 1988, Jessica Arredondo was abducted and murdered in the Denver area. Is a convicted killer responsible for her death?

In November 1988, Jessica Arrendondo, 21, was an operator at the U.S. West phone company. She had graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School a couple of years ago, where she played soccer, served on the student senate, and captained the school’s cheerleading squad. Perhaps it’s because it was the 1980s and Jessica loved dancing, but her pictures bring to mind the actress Jennifer Beals of Flashdance fame. At the time of her murder, Jessica was living at home with her parents and her beloved dog Frosty.
She also loved her new car, an eye-catching red 1988 Mustang convertible. According to her family, she had saved money for months and months, and the car was her pride and joy. She kept it in immaculate condition, and the car had a personalized license plate that read “88 PONY.”
Friday, November 25, 1988, was the day after Thanksgiving. Jessica and her boyfriend hopped in her car and headed towards Glendale, Colorado, a municipality in the southern part of metropolitan Denver. On the way, they had a minor disagreement. She dropped him off at Neil’s, a bar in Glendale, and drove away. It was the last time he would see her.
At 11:25 PM, Jessica’s Mustang was found abandoned with its blinkers on at E. 7th and Jackson Street, a few blocks from Neil’s. When police inspected the scene, they noticed there was damage to the exterior of the car as if a minor accident had occurred. Witnesses reported that Jessica had been kidnapped from the site by multiple men, and at least one article mentions that two cars were involved. Police suspected that someone had crashed into her car intentionally as a ruse to get her to pull over and then abducted her.
On Saturday afternoon, two passersby were playing in the snow along U.S. 36 in Larrimer County and found a nude body about 50 feet from the road. This area is north of Denver, close to Rocky Mountain National Park, and approximately a 1.5 hour drive from where Jessica’s car was abandoned. The autopsy later revealed Jessica had died from blunt force trauma to the head. Although one article in the Denver Post stated there were no signs of sexual assault, a later article in the Fort Collins Coloradoan clarified that investigators believe she was sexually assaulted, although there is no forensic evidence proving so. Some reports state that the trauma to Jessica’s body may have been from her jumping from a moving vehicle, but this is merely speculation. Jessica’s clothes were recovered scattered along the highway near where her body was found.
At the scene, law enforcement found tire tracks indicating someone had backed up a vehicle and dumped Jessica’s body down an embankment. The other notable clue was not one, but two sets of footprints in the snow near the body, consistent with witnesses’ assertions that there were multiple men at the scene of her abduction.
Despite composite sketches of two of the men seen at the accident scene, law enforcement never named any suspects. Jessica’s case soon went cold.
Another Murder, Five Years Later
On February 12, 1994, Rhonda Maloney, 25, finished her shift as a waitress at Harrah’s Casino in Central City and headed towards her home in Adams County. Robert Eliot Harlan, 29, pulled his car alongside hers and ran her off the road near the intersection of I-76 and I-25. Once she had stopped the car, Harlan threatened Maloney with a gun. He dragged her from the car and proceeded to rape her repeatedly.
Mother of three Jaquie Creazzo was on her way to pick up her father around 5:45 AM. The sun had not yet risen, but in the darkness she noticed the two cars haphazardly on the side of the ramp to northbound I-25, one with blinkers on. She slowed down and caught a glimpse of a blonde woman fleeing one of the cars; the terrified expression on her face made Creazzo come to a complete stop. Maloney ran to Creazzo’s car and jumped in, telling her she’d been run off the road and then raped for hours by a man with a gun.
Creazzo immediately headed toward the local police station. Harlan had not given up; he was in hot pursuit, and a dangerous chase ensued on the icy road. Harlan pulled alongside Creazzo’s Cadillac and fired several rounds into the driver’s side, hitting Creazzo in her face, knee, and spine. She tried to steer but she lost control, crossed the median, and came to a stop on the lawn of her destination, the Thornton Police station. Behind the wheel, Creazzo was still conscious but covered in blood, unable to move and spitting out teeth. Harlan appeared, telling Creazzo not to tell anyone about Maloney, saying he would find her and kill her if she did. She watched helplessly as Harlan pulled Maloney from the passenger’s seat and sped off.
Creazzo would later tell the Los Angeles Times, “Being paralyzed is a small price to pay to get this person, actually if you want to call him a person, off the street.”
Creazzo provided police with a description of the perpetrator and the car, helping to generate leads. In the meantime, Darryl Harlan, Robert’s brother, had seen reports about Maloney’s murder on the news and he made a horrific realization. Robert had shown up at Darryl’s house at 8 AM the morning of the murder, wearing bloody sweatpants. Darryl asked Robert if he had vomited on himself. That morning, Robert left his bloody clothes and an unloaded gun at his brother’s house. On February 15th, Darryl approached their father, a Denver police detective, and shared his suspicions. Detective Belt Harlan Jr. bagged the items his son Robert had left at his son Darryl’s house. According to Darryl, the two of them then broke down and cried at the realization of what Robert may have done. Detective Harlan then took the bagged items directly to Denver Police Chief David Michaud, and Robert Harlan was arrested that day.
Harlan was in custody, but Maloney was still missing and Harlan provided the cops with no new information. Maloney’s purse was recovered by the side of a road. A local Aurora man who saw a news report about the recovered purse and the ongoing search believed the cops were searching in the wrong place. A San Francisco Examiner article entitled, “Amateur sleuth locates body in record time,” describes how Loyal Burner mapped out the area and initiated his own search. Although police had been searching for a week, Burner found Rhonda Maloney’s nude body in 1 ½ hours near the town of Watkins, east of Denver.
Maloney’s autopsy revealed she had been severely beaten, with several fractures to her skull, and had injuries consistent with sexual assault. Cause of death was determined to be a gunshot to the head.
The Suspect
Given the similarities in M.O., law enforcement in Larimer County named Harlan a suspect in Jessica Arredondo’s abduction and murder.
At first glance, Robert Harlan may have seemed like an unlikely perpetrator. He had stable employment. He was the son of a Denver police detective and seemed to have solid family ties. Indeed, both his brother and his father testified in his defense during the sentencing phase of his trial.
But even a brief look into Harlan’s past revealed a history of harassment and violence against women. The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel reported that Harlan was on parole and in a sex offender program at the time of the murder. Although I could not determine what precipitated this sentence, a separate article mentioned he had been arrested for using a stun gun on his then-wife. The month before he killed Rhonda Maloney, a psychologist who had been treating Harlan for a year wrote letters to Harlan’s probation officer and a judge, recommending that he be supervised more closely because he was a danger to the community. Harlan had a parole revocation hearing scheduled two days after Maloney was killed.
A second rather damning fact was that Harlan was working as an operator at U.S. West, where Jessica Arredondo had worked. In fact, he had been in that position for eight years and had worked alongside Jessica. Harlan’s history at work soon grabbed headlines, as the Maloney trial galvanized 39 women who had worked at U.S. West to hire a lawyer and seek a $22 million settlement. They claimed Harlan made lewd comments, touched them inappropriately, and harassed them, creating a hostile and un unsafe work environment. At one point, he brought a gun to work. He stalked one of his co-workers, and she obtained a restraining order against him. The women claimed their fear of Harlan escalated after Arredondo’s disappearance, yet U.S. West never took action against Harlan.
The Only Suspect?
Larimer County Sheriff’s Department investigator John Toppenberg was quoted in the news during the Maloney trial. The judge excluded any evidence about the Arrendondo murder during the Maloney trial. Regarding Harlan, Toppenberg claimed “He is our only suspect. He is our prime suspect. It is our view that he killed Jessica Arrendondo.” To this day, no other suspects have been named.
If you recall, however, there were two sets of footprints where Jessica’s body was found. Another article also states that not one, but two cars were observed driving her off the road the night she went missing, and that police believed three men were involved; two composite sketches were released to the press. Harlan may be the only suspect they have identified, but it seems he is not the only suspect involved.
Harlan’s Fate
On June 20, 1995, Harlan was found guilty of Maloney’s kidnapping, rape, and murder, as well as the attempted murder of Jaquie Creazzo. In September, he was sentenced to death by lethal injection. At the time Harlan was sentenced, no one had been executed in Colorado since 1967, and only a couple of men were on death row. Gary Lee Davis was executed in 1997, however, and for crimes similar to Harlan’s: the kidnapping, rape, and murder of Virginia Ray. Given the governor had refused to grant Davis clemency, this likely raised Harlan’s fear that he too may be put to death. He appealed his convictions and the sentence, filing several briefs about voir dire, the suitability of various jurors, whether or not a change of venue was warranted, instructions given to jurors, and other typical appeals that were all denied.
In 2003, Harlan again appealed his death sentence. This time, the filing had teeth. Jurors had brought Bibles into the jury room while deliberating his sentence in 1995, considering passages such as the oft-quoted “eye for an eye” during the discussion. It is against state law for jurors to consider outside materials irrelevant to the case during deliberation. (Further, it seems wildly inappropriate and unconstitutional to weigh a particular religion’s belief in such a determination.) In a 3-2 decision, the Colorado Supreme Court ruled this was a violation of Harlan’s rights. Because this happened during the sentencing phase, not the guilt phase, his conviction was upheld but his sentence was overturned. The U.S. Supreme Court later refused to reinstate the death sentence for Harlan.
Other victims?
One article noted that there are over 35 unsolved homicides of young women in the Denver area in between 1975 and 1995, a period which would have included Harlan’s viable killing years. There are several young women who were murdered and found nude by roadsides preceding and following Arredondo’s death. Because both Arrendondo’s and Maloney’s deaths do not adhere to a clear pattern—the first seemingly a gang rape and murder, the second interrupted by Jacquie Creazzo’s heroic act—I think it is difficult to assign a complete MO to Harlan or to know how he would have behaved without the interference of others. I assume Harlan’s DNA is in CODIS, but it is unclear whether DNA from these various cold cases (or Jessica's, for that matter) has been processed.
Do you think Harlan was involved in the killing of Jessica Arredondo?
A very long shot, but do you know of any perpetrators in the Denver area at the time that could have been involved in Jessica's disappearance (either ties to Harlan or similar MO)?
Do you think Harlan is a serial killer? Are there other cases you think Harlan is a good match for?
If you have any information on abduction and murder of Jessica Arredondo, please contact the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office at Larimer County Sheriff's Department at 1 (970) 498-5100.

A noob's lesson: Always bring your charging cord and don't trust the Chargepoint / Plugshare maps.

This is a tale of range anxiety that became all too real ... and it was completely avoidable. I accept culpability and pass this story along so you don't repeat my mistakes.
Yesterday, we took a trip out to a casino / hotel that is about 90 miles west of my home. It was my first significant excursion with my two week old Model 3. The car was charged to 82% (245 miles) before we left, so I thought I had plenty of range for the excursion. And there are destination chargers at the casino. Stupidly, I did NOT bring the charging cord along for the ride. I set our cruising speed max at 70 mph and we headed west. When we arrived, I plugged into a destination charger for 30 minutes or so. We met up with friends and I gave them a 15 minute demonstration ride which featured a few 0-60 hole shots. I plugged back into the destination charger, rounded up the rest of my group. We decided to skip the buffet and eat at another place along our route home. I set navigation for "home" and the car notified me to keep my speed under 55 mph to make it home without charging. It showed that we'd make it with only 20 miles to spare. The terrain is pretty flat, this is the prairie land where tales by Laura Ingalls Wilder and Garrison Keillor have their setting. It was raining steadily and 36 degrees F (2 degrees C). The car notified us that if temps dropped much further, range would be impaired. We shut off the heat, seat heaters, dimmed the display, and shut off navigation to conserve energy. On my phone, Chargepoint and Plugshare show a charging station in Hutchinson MN. We decided to take a small detour to it so we could charge while eating. Sadly, there is no charging station. There is only a 120 volt outlet with a sign "EV Charging Here". It was ICEd by cars, but I didn't bring the charging cord anyway so that didn't really matter. We ate at the Applebee's across the street and mulled over our options. Eventually we decided to maximize range by keeping speed under 40 MPH and figured we could park it at the Mills Fleet Farm in Carver MN ... the first big box store lot along our route ... if we were falling short, then take Uber home from there. We watched the Wh/mile graph closely as we limped along and achieved an economy of 195 Wh/mi (5 mile average) for most of the ride. We made it home with 1% / 2 miles remaining. Phew.
Lessons learned: 1) Bring the charger and an extension cord. 2) Drive economically. 0-60 hole shots are really costly. 40 MPH = 195 Wh/mile in near-freezing weather on flat terrain. 3) Don't pass up the chance to add range. (Feed people at the buffet while the car feeds at the Tesla Destination Charger.) 4) Have a plan B. Chargepoint and Plugshare maps should not be counted upon. 5) Don't drive like me. Think!
edit: 6) Charge up to 100% when going on a trip. 7) You drive distance, not % of energy capacity. When range might be a factor, change display to distance.

A Week in the Woods

Not quite a week but close enough. Eau Claire, WI is surprisingly depressing. Maybe it was the wrong side of town. 86,000 people live in Eau Claire, which is about half the size of Naperville. That makes Eau Claire the biggest city in Wisconsin for about 150 miles in any direction. There must be a nice part of Eau Claire. Must be. Motel 6 can't pay too much in taxes if they want to sell me a $44 motel room and turn a profit. Eau Claire has sort of an opioid epidemic feel to it. The liquor store that sold me the Fat Tire was a dank little shop run by an old guy who looked like he had a shotgun under the counter. Only one of the two doors was unlocked. I kept an eye on my car out my Motel 6 window until I fell asleep and I got the fuck out of Eau Claire by 7AM Sunday.
Superior, WI and Duluth, MN are sort of shoulder-to-shoulder on the southwest corner of Lake Superior. I'd been through before on my way to the Boundary Waters, and before that on my way to Canada to fish with my dad in the mid-70s. Shipping, mining, lumber centers and the whole fucking area has a tired, rusty, we used to be a real hot place vibe. These must be the people who turned up at the Trump rally. These must be the fucking knuckleheads who think Trump is going to bring back the glory days of shipping, mining, and lumber.
The next stretch of road was half the reason for the trip. Couldn't wait to drive 150 miles up the northern shores of Gitche Gumme. I'm sure it's lovely. When it's not cobalt skies and drizzle. You drive through a tunnel of trees basically and so rather than Lake Superior out the passenger side window you see trees. Some lovely old homes set back in those trees, and I'm sure they have a lovely view out their back windows on Lake Superior. Only when there's a break in the trees do you see the lake and I'll say this much for Lake Superior. It's fucking huge. You can just feel it. At a glance it's no different than Lake Michigan. A water horizon that may as well be the ocean. Maybe it's just because I learned as a young boy just how big Superior is and so I had that in the back of my mind but holy shit. Big. The mist was hanging so low that I could only see a couple of miles out but I knew that I was heading northwest and out the right window was basically a straight line of Superior's full east-west width. That fucking lake goes as far as Illinois and Indiana combined. If I shoved off in a rowboat from here I could paddle 350 fucking miles east. It gets over 1300 feet deep. Never gives up her dead and all that other Lightfoot stuff. There's a reason those homes on Minnesota Rte 61 are built up on bluffs 75 or 100 feet above the water. I can just imagine what that lake looks like when it gets nasty. Those shipping places down in Duluth are right on the water. Cavernous joints the size of jumbo jet hangars. Must be a hell of a place to ride out a bad blow on Lake Superior.
Lutsen, Tofte, Grand Marais are the mapworthy names of the towns along 61 north of Duluth. Holiday gas station mini-marts and Kwik-Trip gas station mini-marts seem to be doing a Macs/Burger King duel in the woods. Nice little towns. Lots of arts & crafts people and laid-back tourism types who sell $9.75 foldable maps to Minnesota's Arrowhead. Laminated in plastic so yeah, sure. Had to buy one. And that $11 pack of Castle Danger Creamy Ale. And some of those naked lady tees. And oh that hat, who would buy that hat?
Had I kept going up 61 for another 40 or so miles I'd have run out of US and A. Instead I turned due north up the Sawbill Trail.
Google Maps & Google Earth were incredibly helpful for the planning of this trip. Never before had I been able to use my satellites to zoom down from space on my actual campsite. (I checked after I got home. The fallen tree that I tight-roped for 15 feet out into the lake so I could cast farther is fucking visible from space.) So as I was driving north up Sawbill Trail I had a fairly good idea of which way the road goes and where I want to turn right onto The Grade, which is the name of the east-west road that snakes all the way around to, eventually, the Canadian border. I was thinking that as I was driving along Sawbill Trail. Google Earth is fucking awesome. Only they didn't say anything about this "pavement ends" sign on this bridge as I cross Temperance River.
Thank God I haven't gotten my January in Colorado tire chain damage repaired yet. You ever drive 55 mph on gravel? Like driving a boat. There's no sure footing. And the road curves around through the forest and shit so you don't want to have to snap a quick turn because that isn't happening. Newton explained it well. Your car wants to maintain going straight ahead and with gravel under your tires that "I'd like to turn now" friction isn't there. So you slow down a little. And listen as the rocks bounce off the undercarriage and the fenders and the paint and I don't give a fuck because tire chain damage is already there!
45 miles of gravel road through the Superior National Forest. Some interesting signage. Logging going on in these here woods since 1838. Older than Chicago? Fuck me. There's possibly a locomotive abandoned in these woods and can I find it? No time to stop and look for a lost locomotive but thanks for the trivia. They laid hundreds of miles of track in these woods back in the 19th century. None of it is visible from Google Earth now. I'll tell you what you do see up in the Arrowhead of Minnesota. Logging trucks. Doubles and even triples. They have signs in the forest telling truckers how many tons they can weigh if they're cab-trailer-trailer-trailer. How in the fuck can somebody drive a triple trailer load of logs through here? Holy shit what a challenge.
Crescent Lake is a fucking gem. I plan on returning often. Annually if I can. I've already tried booking next July 4th week. Can't do it until January.
Tranquil, beautiful, and so fucking quiet at night you cannot believe it. Absolute silence is rare and man is it palpable when you're laying in a tent in the middle of the woods. The lake is like glass but I can still hear the slight sloshing of the water every so often and that's 50 feet from my tent. An owl sounds like an M80. It's just amazing.
And after the 1st night I started to unwind. By day 3 I had my camp set up the way I like. Tarps over everything because rain. With very little warning. So many memories of my BWCA trips and yet I'd forgotten how quickly the weather turns up there. July 5th I slept in a sleeping bag and wore a hoodie. 55-60 degrees tops. 95 down here in Chicago and I'm wearing a hoodie to bed. Yes!
By day 4 I had put Donald Trump out of my mind. Occasionally I would look out over that terrain and that amazing natural beauty and get pissed off. This is the part of my country I love the most and that douchebag is fucking with it. I had sort of an "enjoy it while I still can" feeling and that made me fucking sad. It's amazing how quickly our wilderness areas can be transformed to commercial enterprises. Fuck the eagles and the loons and the silence and here's a Ho Chunk Casino.
I can't recall the last time I went 5 days without talking to someone. Aside from Jack the camp host (who sells wet firewood for $6.50 a bundle) the only other person I talked to all week was the girl at Sawbill who called the ruffed grouse a bastard bird. There's no cell reception in the Superior National Forest so turn the phone off. Useless. If it goes bad on a gravel road out here I could be in for a real adventure. My campsite never felt more like a home. The BWCA trips back in the day was me and 5 friends. 3 canoes. 3 tents. Conversation. Laughter. LSD. Weed. Whiskey. Fart jokes. Lies about conquests among 18 year old idiots. This is all kinds of different. 3 nights alone is the longest I've ever gone. This is twice that. Like night and day. I literally lost track of what day it was by Wednesday. I have a tendency to mumble to myself when I'm alone and thinking about something. It feels one way when I'm home, but talking to myself feels completely different when laying in a tent in the woods. It's a reminder of the aloneness.
For whatever reason I brought an old Sony Walkman radio. Fuck your Ipods. Picked up a Minnesota NPR station out of Grand Marais. David Brooks was giving a speech in Aspen. I turned it off quickly but made a mental note to check back in an hour. Boots Riley is my new favorite rapper. Which is cool because he's my first favorite rapper. Great interview with Terry Gross. And then came the news. Scott Pruitt has stepped down at EPA.
I fucking smiled from ear to ear. I looked out at the lake as if expecting it to smile back at me. I spent that entire day smiling about it. Giggling even. Small victory but I'll take it and deal with Trump's "next douchebag up" game plan later. Wheeler? Coal lobbyist? OK I hate him now but still. Scott Pruitt. So delicious. I hope his pocket-lining gets exposed and he gets charged criminally.
Grice, eagles, hummingbirds, a grebe, ducks, loons, jays, crows, so many different small birds that I didn't even bother cracking David Sibley real-time. How can anybody identify these things? They never sit still. So many birds buzzing around up there I have to figure half the tourism is birders. Still not entirely sure if those were juvenile eagles or ospreys. Jack the host assures me they're all eagles. They all hang around what has come to be called "Eagle Island." I shot 5 minutes of eagle video, and spent another 25 minutes just sitting on shore and watching them circling and dive-bombing and fucking around with each other. Only 3 or 4 show up on the video but there are more like 9 of them. A half hour I'll never forget for as long as I live.
I like to break down camp a day early, leaving just the bare bones stuff for the last night. Tent, air mattress, sleeping bag, food, coffee pot. It makes for a quick exit in the morning. No need to stay until noon when I have 10 hours of driving ahead of me. I got a little melancholy that last morning when I shot that dawn video. Didn't feel like leaving yet. I usually get that feeling that I'm ready to go home a couple of days before a vacation is over. I never got it this time. I still haven't gotten it. I wish I was still up there.

I'm terrified of this encounter.. Does anyone know how to explain this?

[Before I get into the story, let me clear some personal jazz up. I am a usual skeptic of happenings, well, now I am more open minded due to me reminiscing over some fading childhood experiences. I have no reason to lie to you all, this story terrifies me enough everytime the topic of supernatural or paranormal comes up. Every single time the subject is brought up, this story breathes down my neck and embeds itself a tiny bit deeper into my memories' essence.]
This is not a throwaway account. I saw this subreddit today when I immediately was reminded of this encounter. I want to post this so others who may have had a similar experience or know about this phenomena may provide some of their insight and to hear general feedback to help solve this mysterious wonder. Also, this post sort of includes me venting over the experience and how I felt during it since I only told this a handful of times since no one ever believes me. And when they do, they seem to tell me I was just imagining it.. To those who say that, I tell them that I truly wish it wasn't real. God, I wish it never happened. But, it unfortunately, is real, and there is nothing I can do about that. All in all, it really invites discussion for what we really know is out there and how much goes on in this world that we truly do not understand a single bit.
Without further intermission, I hope this experience shows that even some light skeptics like myself are not spared the childhood horrors of the unexplainable..

This happened in the dry month of August, 2011. When I was only a small preteen. For clarification, I currently am 18. Me, my younger two brothers, my mom, and my stepdad all lived together in the curved valley of Bullhead City, Nevada area that year. For anyone that's good with maps, knows the region is only mere hours away from Area 51 if that provides any relevance...
Throughout the year we lived there, I can't say I've seen anything out of the ordinary in the location. Furthermore, I was quite young to even pay good attention to what was out in the distance of Bullhead's span. There were occasional stories of desert spirits and urban legends of strange creatures wondering the valley I've heard through parents and school friends. Besides that, nothing comes to mind.
Until. . .
That.. That day I will never forget.. The whole scene, so vivid and terrifying to me and my brother. I get nervous and weary everytime I try telling anyone this story. Usually, nothing even prompts this anxiousness.. It's like that feeling of being watched when no one is around... So. One warm warm day in the valley, me and my family decided to visit my grandparents' vacation home along the Colorado River. We would visit there often to have movie nights, BBQ's, and family time with cousins who would also visit simultaneously when we did. A full house, a big happy family.
During one of these gatherings, me and my brother decided to watch a movie. I remember the day so perfectly, we watched the Despicable Me before dinner was ready, we all had baked potatoes, rice, and porkchops. I remember not being hungry and neither was my younger brother (who was 10 when this occured), who we'll call Jack for privacy reasons.
Me and Jack were and still are very close brothers. We done everything together, and decided to ditch the family dinner for a bit and go outside in the front yard which is just a bunch of pebbles/rocks. The sun was beginning to go down and we began doing our common imaginative games. Running around, talking and just doing what some kids me & his age would be doing when they were bored. I do remember the last game we played together that night was some sort of "Transformers" visioned game, and pretending our arms were laser guns and running along some original-ish story of ours.
It was starting to grow dark outside, everyone indoors was talking at the bar table, and my youngest brother (6 at the time,) who we'll call Andy, was inside playing with some jenga blocks. Everyone, was absolutely unaware of what was about to etch a rooted fear into me and my brother for the rest of our lives..
Jack and I were. We were just sitting there, talking on the side of the driveway.. The air was so calm and welcoming. The neighborhood was unnaturally quiet. Not a peep in the occasional car riding by, not a neighbor on their porch, not. A single. Thing. The wind slowed down, and we both eventually stopped playing our imagined adventure to conversate about aspirations. (This is where I begin to feel that feeling of being watched and being on the invisible spotlight...) It happened. It happened so swiftly. Not drawing much attention to it. I saw IT. Then Jack saw.. IT. THAT THING..
We froze. Paralyzed by the ancient fear of the unknown that all humans have beneath our consciousness. Nothing to protect us from whatever that thing is. We sat there, mouths slowly opening in awe, our heads initiating the flight or fight response accordingly.
What we saw, is difficult to define. The anomaly took place directly above the neighbors' home right across from our vaca home. It flew in from the left of our neighborhood with crawling speed. There were two immense spotlights, each one pointed down at our driveway. The spotlights seemed to not be held up by anything. They were spaced out between each other similarly to car headlights. There was a miniscule red light in the middle of the 'invisible craft' shall I call it. This tiny light flickered every couple seconds it seemed. It was very small and Jack never noticed it. The entire scene had no noise. And if there was, I was too terrified to notice any sounds. The object peared down on the driveway for about 10-20 seconds. But god, it felt like we were gazing at it lethargically for a minute at least.. I remember feeling like I was about to cry before it, for whatever reason, turned its attention to the left and floated away. This thing was floating. Not throbbing up and down like a d*mn helicopter, not accordingly like some drone, it was floating/hovering! Mesmerizing, shocking, and terrifying were the feelings that describe how we both felt looking up to whatever that was. I felt like we were just at the wrong place at the wrong time, but this was our own front yard! After the thing zoomed away, we tried getting a better angle of it, but it was gone. The depth of that huge valley is angled so that we cannot see what is behind the tree line to the right of the neighborhood. And that's where it went. We walked inside, not knowing how to possibly explain to our guardians and grandparents what we just encountered out there.
It was worth a shot though, I told my mom and Jack assisted me on the details. Everyone was sort of convinced we saw something supernatural out there for a second. Until, I laughed. I was trying to explain to them that it was unexplainable and not trying to fall on the card that it was a UFO since our family is dyhard skeptics. But, I gave a little chuckle and ruined our chances of them believing us.. I choked on my breathe not knowing how to get them to understand what we saw was real. And not normal. After a long one-sided conversation, it started feeling like I was talking to a wall. So I, feeling frustrated, told them "Whatever, you're lucky whatever that was didn't just take us while it could!" I hate being so rude in front of my grandparents, but I snapped. It made me boil knowing no one believed us and that we would have to live and die with this thing existing in our mind.
Look, there's another reason this creeps me out. Whatever that entity was, it looked directly at us. Not some random house, not a dog, not a car passing by, not a tree. It was observing us. When it happened it was so bright and hypnotizing and I can't count how many days I barely could sleep since that happened. My brother can recollect the story, but not as well as me, he's always had a terrible memory. Why, why did it idle there, looking at us. Invading privacy, scaring us, and so silent and stealthy? Let me remind you, it couldn't have been a drone or any 'known' craft documented since it gave off no seeable texture or object holding the spotlights. AKA, and invisible craft. I really do not want to call the "ALIENS!" card, but I'm running out of theories here.
That's not all, later that night after I calmed down, my youngest brother, Andy, wanted me to play a game with him in the backyard. I only did because Jack was sleeping, and Andy was the only one that believed me and I respected. Even for a six year old, it was comforting in a way to have at least one person believe your tale. It was ten at night, the crickets were thriving and miles away you can see the casinos by the riverside flickering in the dark of that valley. I was looking around out there in the darkness, only fueling my well exposed fear of the unknown. I zoned out while Andy continued on his words. I didn't even notice... I DIDN'T NOTICE IT WAS THERE. A rough 10 miles out, another neighborhood in the valley had that thing over there.. It was definitely the same craft. Two spotlights. Glaring down at something out there. I felt terrified, even though it was so far away, I felt it knew I saw it. As it watched unsuspecting homes in the blanketing darkness of the night. I started breathing heavily and asked my brother if he could see it. He was too short to see over our fence blocking us from entering the country club next to the house. So I lifted Andy up on my shoulders, and he told me,"That's scary, I want to go inside now please." I agreed and took him off my shoulders. I bolted back inside to grab my parents who were still awake watching TV. I lead them outside and pointed where I saw it. By then, it was already booked out of the area and a light so far away it looked like a helicopter to us moving in the opposite direction of us. I sighed, and told them nevermind.. It's too late. After that, the memory of the day blurs and I cannot dig up anything else to take note of.
Here's what is known
•Approximate setting this took place.
•Object had Lights.
•It left psychological & emotional effects on us.
•The craft made no noticeable audio.
•There were no confirmed witnesses besides me & my two brothers.
•It seemed curious on civilized residences??
•Traveled probably at human sprinting speed.
•Maybe 100-150ft in width based on the spacing of the spotlights.
... Does anyone know what this object could have been? Anyone ever had an experience similar to this? I would enjoy engaging with your ideas. Looking back it terrifies me more realizing it is 100% real. My mind keeps telling me,"Hey that never happened" as some way to cope with it. However, I know it was real. It's the same real that I have for memories of my birthdays, getting my learner's licence, meeting my best friend, and many insane tales I've had in my life. Recollection of this inspires me to search for more that could be out there. I don't have much of a lead here, but I don't want to go to my death bed not knowing what the f*ck stalked me and my siblings that evening.
I appreciate you taking time out of your day to read my story, I have many others to tell. This is no doubt, one of my most terrifying encounters I ever had the unfortunate circumstance to witness in my entire life. I credit it to making me a whooole lot less skeptic when people communicate their paranormal stories to me.
Thanks again, I will try to answer any questions. Until next time, I hope you all have a blessed day/night. --Nathan

--Nathan
